A large UK corporate wanted to divest of one of its divisions, a specialist chemical company whose major asset was its people, a team of highly qualified scientists.
The division approached us for presentation coaching for the management team. There were eight speakers and the coordination of the content of their story was critical. So too was the communication of the scientific expertise within the business. We worked with all eight, alongside their bankers, over six weeks.
The team, initially dispirited and approaching the sale reluctantly, rediscovered the vitality and strength of their business case. The final ingredient was individual and group pride. These things propelled the speakers into presenting their business as a committed, robust team determined to achieve the highest price possible. The business was sold at a price which was approximately 30% higher than their parent company had expected.
